Hi, I'm learning Burmese, and this is where I keep notes on it β what I've studied, what's helped, and a few printables along the way.
Learned to say "thank you" properly today β and stopped mixing up my tones on the way to the market.
The Journal
This isn't a course or a textbook β just a running log of what I've picked up along the way. I write down what worked, what tripped me up, and a few small wins, in case it's useful to someone else doing the same thing.
Burmese by Ear
Being a fan of Sayagyi John Okell, I started with his Burmese by Ear audio series and the companion notes. It's where most of my early lessons trace back to.
Listen to the audioLessons
Notes from my own study sessions, kept roughly in the order I actually learned them.
Script & Sound
The Burmese alphabet, consonants, vowels, and the tone system β the part everything else builds on.
Everyday Phrases
Greetings, polite particles, market chat β the small talk that gets you through a first real conversation.
Grammar Notes
Sentence order, verb endings, and the particles that quietly do most of the work.
Reading Practice
Working up from street signs and menus to short children's stories, one line at a time.
Resources
Not a full list, just what I keep coming back to.
Burmese by Ear (Audio)
The John Okell audio series β this is what first got my ear used to the language.

The written companion to the audio β usually open in a second tab while I study.

Grid paper, a soft pencil, ten minutes a day. Not glamorous, but it's what made the script stick.
Quizlet Sets
Where I keep vocabulary I'm actively drilling β consonants, numbers, grammar, and more.
Study on QuizletFree Printables
A few simple sheets I made for my own practice β free to print and scribble on. The matching flashcard versions live on Quizlet.
Consonant Chart
All 33 consonants with stroke order, sized for a standard print.
Practice on QuizletNumbers & Measure Words
Burmese numerals paired with the counting words that go with them.
Practice on QuizletScript Practice Grid
The same guided grid I use most mornings β plenty of room to get the proportions right.
Come say hi
This is where most of the actual journal lives day to day.
